COLUMBUS, Ohio – Jim Hayes, the first commissioner of the Central Buckeye League, is stepping down as league commissioner at the end of the 2022-23 school year citing personal reasons. Hayes joined the CBL in Summer 2022 as his expertise was needed to reboot the league following a 32-year hiatus after the league closed its doors in 1991.
He has thoroughly enjoyed his time and service as a league commissioner and is appreciative of the confidence the member schools have given them in leading both leagues. “I feel after 35 years of service to the MSL, and my short time with the CBL, it is time to start taking a few things off my plate.”
Hayes will continue to work part time for the Ohio High School Athletic Association, serve in the Kairos Prison Ministry, and most importantly, spend time with his family.
The Central Buckeye League is in search of a new commissioner for the 2023-2024 school year. Interested parties should contact League President Bill Hughett at hughettb@wcsrams.org, or League Secretary Ralph Schudel at schudelr@columbusacademy.org with a cover letter and resume to apply for the position.
