Worthington Christian Selects Tony Earp To Lead Athletic Department

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Worthington Christian has selected Tony Earp to lead its athletic department. The announcement was made Tuesday evening to members of the Warrior community during the Fall Sports Meeting on campus.

Earp most recently served as the director of the Classic Eagles Soccer Club, which served over 650 participants, a number of them being Worthington Christian students.

Earp completed a BA in integrated social studies with minors in psychology and geography from The Ohio State University. He earned this degree while distinguishing himself as a four-year starter and an Ohio State Men’s Soccer team captain. Earp later completed a master’s degree in education focusing on integrated social studies at Ohio State. He also has taught high school history at Dublin Scioto and Licking Valley. He, his wife, and his two children are members of Lifepoint Church.

“I am blessed to serve the Worthington Christian community as the Athletic Director, Earp said in a press release. “Leading a community of students, families, and coaches toward Christ is a privilege. Athletics is not an extension of the classroom; it is a classroom. We have the responsibility to help each student develop the skills required to pursue their goals, both in sports and beyond. I will continue to help build upon this strong tradition.”

Head of School Dr. Mike Hayes notes, “We’re thrilled to add Tony to our team at Worthington Christian. He brings much experience leading youth sports in Central Ohio. As a former member of The Ohio State University Men’s Soccer team, his achievement will benefit our students who dream of playing collegiate sports as they and their parents navigate the process of selecting the right college.”

The naming of Earp to the role of AD came after a search that began in the spring, during which Worthington Christian alumni parent and former board member Steve Betulius served as the interim AD.

Hayes remarks, “I want to thank Steve Betulius for his work as our interim AD. He has served the school faithfully in many regards over the years and has led the WC athletic program effectively since October 2022. He and Tony will partner to facilitate a smooth transition over the coming weeks.”
